The estate
The country estate includes a full-scale labyrinth, two reflection pools, sprawling gardens and the steel-and-glass pavilion that made Belair famous, wrapped in star jasmine that bursts into bloom in late October and November. A dramatic water feature forms the aisle to the signature greenhouse chapel, framed by wisteria-draped arches that peak in mid-September – worth knowing when you pick your date, because a wisteria-season ceremony is something else entirely.
Couples choose between three ceremony spaces: the jasmine-and-ivy covered greenhouse chapel (up to 180 seated, with light-rain cover), the water pear tree garden with its black-and-white tiled aisle under mature shade trees (up to 200), or the Simonsberg lookout – an open-air field setting with a reflection pool and uninterrupted mountain views (up to 200; note you hire garden chairs for this one, as the venue benches do not suit the terrain).
The courtyard and back patio
The fairy-lit courtyard is the feature guests remember: fire pit, water feature, dance floor and cocktail bar under strings of lights. And a supplier’s detail brides love: the back patio has beautiful star-patterned tiled flooring that photographs wonderfully at night – it is where we usually set up the photo booth, and the results speak for themselves.

Accommodation at Belair Pavilion
The Belair country house sleeps up to 43 guests (36 adults and 7 children) across 20 charming rooms, with a hearty farm breakfast for all overnight guests served at the Goatshed restaurant on the neighbouring Fairview wine estate. For weddings this is a real advantage: the couple and closest family stay on the estate, morning-of preparations happen on location in the dedicated prep rooms (the Glam Room for the ladies, the Pool Room – with built-in braai and vintage pool table – for the gents), and nobody organises midnight transport. Note: accommodation runs as a separate business from the venue, and a full-house or package booking is required for Friday, Saturday, public holiday and December dates – reserve rooms the day you confirm the venue. Paarl town, ten minutes away, covers overflow guests.
Belair Pavilion prices
According to Belair’s current rates and information guide, the venue package is priced as follows:
- 2026 venue package: R74,000 including 15% VAT
- 2027 venue package: R79,000 including 15% VAT
- 2028 venue package: R84,000 including 15% VAT
The package is a fixed venue rate (not per head) and includes the three ceremony area options, the reception pavilion with tables and 200 “Alice” dining chairs, tableware and glassware for 200, bar facilities, kitchen facilities for your caterer, garden lighting, and basic set-up. Catering, planning, florals, decor, sound and accommodation are separate.
Worth knowing about – the special rates: winter weddings (June-August) and midweek weddings (Tuesday or Wednesday, up to 150 guests) come in from R58,000 for 2026, last-minute reservations (within 3 months of your date) from R62,000, and there is an elopement package for up to 50 guests from R55,000 that includes staff, tableware and an on-the-day coordinator. Two other budget lines couples often miss: a professional wedding planner is mandatory (on-the-day coordination is offered exclusively through the venue’s partner from R9,000), and a minimum bar spend of R120 per guest applies.

What it is like to work a wedding at Belair
Our supplier’s-eye view, for couples and planners: load-in is straightforward and the coordinators know their flow, which makes for calm setups. The courtyard and back patio are the natural homes for entertainment – guests drift there naturally after dinner, so a photo booth positioned on that star-tiled patio gets steady traffic all night without pulling anyone away from the dance floor. In summer, the outdoor space works from cocktail hour onward; in winter, the pavilion interior keeps everything close together. If your wedding photo hire matters to you, this is one of the easiest venues in the Winelands to make it look spectacular.
Directions to Belair Pavilion
From Cape Town: N1 north, take exit 55 (Paarl) to the t-junction. Turn right, go under the highway and continue 2 km. Turn right into Suid-Agter-Paarl Rd (Fairview sign) and continue 2 km, then turn right into Belair.
From Cape Town International Airport: N2 toward Somerset West, onto the R300 north-east, then the N1 toward Paarl. Take exit 55 (Paarl) and follow the same route as above.
From Worcester: N1, exit 55 (Paarl) to the t-junction, turn right. After about 1.8 km turn right onto Suid-Agter-Paarl Rd (Fairview sign), continue 2 km, then right into Belair.
